Get ready for our first ever in house team competition! We know so many of you hear about members competing and have asked if we would ever host one. So, because of the interest, we decided to host one just for you all! We made our competition accessible for everyone. The final will have a slight bump in skill level, but the first three workouts will be pretty standard. See division standards below.
We have many new faces at CrossFit Bethesda, and some of you may or may not have heard of the CrossFit Open, the CrossFit Games, or competitive CrossFit in general. Don’t worry, you will. 🙂 I want to cover the communal aspect of competition and my hopes for Fright Fest 2023.
What is the CrossFit Open? Check out this link and video which explains what the CrossFit Open is. It is what we base our yearly programming around. Some of us train to get healthy, to lose weight, to get strong, or for general longevity. My hope is that while on that journey, each of you finds a family in our supportive community and a new appreciation for yourself and what you can do.
Community in Competition
There is much to be said about the vibe and ambiance of a CrossFit Competition. If you have attended our annual CrossFit Open and Friday Night Lights events, you know the vibe I’m referring to. The energy in the gym is unparalleled. Everyone is cheering, everyone is working harder than they ever thought possible, and those spectating are on the edges of their seats with excitement. It’s not just a workout, its a time when every single person learns something new about themselves AND does it with an army of support behind them. Growth happens.
There’s something about sharing in suffering with other people that draws you together and creates a unique bond that is hard to find elsewhere in life. This is why our classes mean so much to us. We compete against the clock or the person next to us, striving to do the best we are capable of, all while cheering on the person next to us. If you have ever noticed in CrossFit, the last person to finish is typically the person who gets the most cheering. This is awesome. This is what you’ll see during our competition.
