Here is some bio information about him:
What got you into CrossFit: Ray Romanick at Sport and Health in 2016…LOL. I used to do body pump and obstacle course racing so training included a lot of running. I then followed Ray to CrossFit Hardshells in 2017 where I really started my CrossFit journey and became a coach. No more body pump after that!
Coaching style: Supportive, uplifting and attentive to detail. The days I feel the best are the days I’m able to help at least a few people improve in some way, even if it’s just a little bit. That is very satisfying for me.
What is one thing you bring to your classes that makes them unique/special: Quality of movement is very important to me so preparation for movement is equally as important. I put a lot of time and attention into my warm ups. I want to make sure member’s bodies are primed for the movements they are about to do. I spend a particularly large amount of personal time working on the movements that I plan to bring into my warm ups so I can cue properly and communicate them effectively during classes.
Fitness Goals/Accomplishments: My current goal is to work on strength and mobility. I have a few nagging imbalances that I’d like to fix so that is my main focus right now. A few months ago Ray had me do a workout, 30 muscle ups for time, and I completed it unbroken. I was proud of this because I did not think I could do that.
Work/Hobbies: I am a professor of Educational Psychology at American University. I’ve recently been playing pickleball with my son and his friends. I also take lots of naps. I’m a napper. We also wrestle and play basketball.
Fun Facts: I have two children, one 19 and the other 16. Any opportunity I can get to spend time with them, I take advantage of. So, once a week, my son and I would get all the flavors of cookie crumble, slice them up, and crush all the cookies. We would then rate which ones we liked best and which ones we hated. When we got tired of those, we would get flavors of bundt cakes and do the same.
